I’m Lise — a dedicated piano teacher, mindfulness practitioner, and creator of the NoteLife system.

After teaching students of all ages across China and Canada for over a decade, I’ve come to realize that true success isn’t just about focusing on the outcome.

There’s another essential half: how well you know yourself, and how fully you can apply that awareness to the present moment.

That’s why I created NoteLife — a system that starts from within, taking into account the mind, heart, body, and environment.

When all are aligned, piano practice is no longer a “drill”. Rather, each note becomes a doorway to the juicy, abundant NOW.

Primary Methods

Monthly Concert

Our monthly concert is highly recommended for all students. As in music, performance is the highest form of expression and communication. Regular opportunities to perform not only cultivate excellence and confidence, but also inspire deeper commitment through gentle public accountability within a safe, familiar community.

Measurable Progress

Productivity begins with clarity. After each lesson, students take home a structured practice note that outlines specific tasks for each piece to support consistent progress. This ensures that the role of parents (especially for younger learners) is simply to provide light care and encouragement, instead of intensive coaching.

Mindfulness Practice

The ideal state of piano practice is one in which the body remains relaxed while the heart and mind are aligned with clear intentions. After years of mindfulness practice, I’m able to synchronize with students’ internal states and come up with techniques that transform note-reading into a meditation-like practice.
